STRUCTUREAL FEATURES

Secure identity documents are often constructed from several layers, with each layer serving a specific function.

Depending on the document, layers can contain printed design and security elements, antennas for contactless communication or protective materials designed to make counterfeiting and manipulation more difficult. Chips can also be embedded securely within the document structure.

The individual layers are manufactured separately and combined to create the finished document. This allows security features to become an integral part of the physical construction rather than simply being applied to the surface.

ELECTRONIC FEATURES

For electronic identity documents, physical security features are complemented by electronic security mechanisms.

An embedded chip can store personal and biometric information and use several security mechanisms to protect this information from unauthorized access.
